West Ottawa

Welcome to Ottawa, Canada’s Capital City!

Well-known and highly-ranked for its great quality of life, Ottawa is beaming with pride, diversity, and a laidback nature. Is Ottawa a good place to live? We think so – here, let us show you why…

The Charm

Why are people drawn to living in West Ottawa? What is life like in Ottawa? It has to be the opportunity to live in a world-class city that still has small-town charm. Ottawa is filled with parks, recreational facilities, green space, and ample waterways that give it a rural feel. Ottawa ranks as the #1 place in Canada to live, thanks in part to both the cost of living and the real estate prices.

The Culture

With a wide spectrum of neighbourhoods and style of homes, there’s a variety of people who can live their chosen lifestyle here. Ottawa is also home to seven of The Department of National Defence’s headquarters, as well as 1,700 high-tech companies, drawing in talent from far and wide.

Steeped in culture, the city offers several galleries, museums, culinary experiences, and entertainment venues. Ottawa features excellent commuting routes, public transit, and light rail transportation, as well as cycling, walking, and recreational pathways throughout the city.

How many people live in Ottawa?

The Ottawa-Gatineau census metropolitan area (CMA) consists of both Ottawa, Ontario and Gatineau, Quebec. An alternative title for this same area is the National Capital Region (NCR). In 2016, Ottawa’s population within the city was 934,243 residents strong. Spanning the metropolitan area, though, resulted in 1,323,783 calling the city home. This, in turn, makes Ottawa the fourth-largest city in Canada (as well as the fifth-largest CMA).
