Carleton Place

Welcome to Carleton Place!

Carleton Place is a family-friendly community located 46km from downtown Ottawa. Located on the Mississippi River, this beautiful town attracts nature lovers who still desire the conveniences of modern living.

The Charm

Carleton Place is modern through and through, but pays homage to its rich history. The settlers who first discovered the town along the Mississippi River immediately saw its value for milling. As the area grew more prosperous, the downtown area thrived. To this day, you can still see four of these historic mills along the riverbank, and the community is still booming.

The Culture

For a small town, Carleton Place attracts top-notch talent.

Small business is the heart of the community, with many one-of-a-kind shops lining the downtown core. Within a few blocks, you can visit any number of restaurants, high-end fashion boutiques, florists and natural pet stores.

Carleton Place is also famous for its thriving tech industry. There is a significant concentration of jobs in machinery, computers, electronics, and component manufacturing.

The only sector growing faster than technology is healthcare. With access to premium hospitals and medical facilities, Carleton Place has earned its reputation as the “Health Hub” of Lanark County.

The Must-Sees

There is always something to do and see in Carleton Place, no matter what season.

Nature lovers will adore the beauty of the Ottawa Valley Trail all year long: Snow covered trees in the Winter, fragrant wildflowers in the Spring, lush greenery in the Summer, and a visual feast of colour in the Fall.

Ambitious cyclists can also ride the Trans Canada Trail all the way from Carleton Place to Ottawa West on the car-free crushed-stone rail-trail pathway.

There are also many unique festivals to look forward to. Every November, the annual Santa Clause Parade takes over Bridge Street, transforming it into a spectacle of lights and cheer.

There is even a sheep festival every Spring, called Lambs Down Park Festival. It’s a June celebration of all things warm and woolly!

The fun kicks off in the morning with a pancake breakfast. Later on, there are pony rides for the kids and a beer tent for the grownups to enjoy. Festival-goers can attend a variety of events, including sheep shearing, spinning, weaving and knitting demos.

The Real Estate

Carleton Place has single-family and executive homes available, as well as many modern townhouses and condo units. Plus, new and exciting developments are on the way to support this growing community.
