Cross-country skiing is a great activity for the whole family and The Kanata Nordic Ski Club is dedicated to promoting lifelong activity, fitness and enjoyment of the outdoors. This organization calls Wesley Clover Parks home which features a growing network of trails for all skill levels. Get out and be active in the cold weather!

Community Outdoor Rinks

The City of Ottawa operates many outdoor rinks within Kanata. Lace up your skates and take to the ice for some free skating or pick up hockey. It doesn’t get more Canadian than this and best of all, there is no charge for using these spaces. Rinks are operational as soon as the ice can be made (usually late December) through until spring. Check out the City of Ottawa website to find the rink closest to you as well as the ice conditions.

A hidden gem right here in our community, The South March Highlands Conservation Forest, located in Kanata North, offers an amazing network of trail to explore Ottawa’s natural biodiversity. Take the family for a stroll in the majestic winter landscape. The trails are also dog-friendly so don’t forget to bring your furry family members.

 

Ottawa Senators – NHL Hockey

If you’d rather enjoy winter from the warmth of indoors, make sure to check out an Ottawa Senators game at the Canadian Tire Centre, conveniently located in Kanata. There is nothing like an NHL hockey game and the action is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. The Sens hockey season continues into the spring and they offer a variety of evening and afternoon games to suit all schedules.

 

Kanata Recreation Complex Toboggan Hill

Located in the park adjacent to the recreation complex, the toboggan hill offers fun for the whole family. Dust off your sleds and head on down for a day of fun. Cited as one of the best toboggan hills in the city, you don’t want to miss out on this fun winter activity!
