West Ottawa Bungalows
A bungalow is defined as a home with a single story. They come in a variety of styles to accommodate a variety of wants and needs. Bungalows can be found across the entire city in both suburban and rural settings. They provide everything you may need on one level which is ideal for people with mobility issues.
West Ottawa Ranch Homes
A ranch home is a style of bungalow. In Ottawa real estate listings, they are simply defined as bungalows but they do offer a distinct design feature in the way they are laid out: bedrooms are grouped on one side of the home while public areas such as the kitchen, dining room, and living room, are located on the other.
Often these homes are divided by a hallway reaching from the front door down the centre of the home. This design is popular as it provides privacy in the bedroom areas of the home. This design is more common in rural areas where the home sits on a larger property as these homes tend to be quite wide but they can be found in some of Ottawa’s suburbs as well.
Hi-Ranch Homes
Very similar to the traditional ranch home, this particular type of home is defined within Ottawa real estate listings. The main difference between a ranch style home and a hi-ranch style home is that the home is essentially raised out of the ground, with the basement level reaching further out of the ground.
In a hi-ranch home, you enter at ground level and must go up a few stairs to either the bedroom or public sections of the home. The basement level of the home features larger windows allowing for a more liveable space as well. Again, this home is divided by a central hallway. Hi-Ranch homes are very popular on rural properties.
